Taiwanese Film Festival in Paris to take place at La Filmothèque-2

The Taiwanese Film Festival in Paris, co-hosted by the Taiwan Cultural Center in Paris and indie cinema La Filmothèque du Quartier Latin, will take place from Mar. 28 to Apr. 6, showcasing 11 feature films and 4 short films from Taiwan for film lovers in France.

Chou Tseng-sheng (周增晟), one of the festival’s curators, noted that the event will open with “Gatao: Like Father Like Son (角頭─大橋頭),” a gangster film that embodies local spirit and became the highest-grossing film in Taiwan in 2024. The festival will conclude the movie “Hunter Brothers (獵人兄弟),” a contemporary Indigenous story told in the Truku language, he added.

The festival also spotlights director Lin Shu-yu (林書宇), presenting both his latest film “Yen and Ai Lee (小雁與吳愛麗)” and his debut feature “Winds of September (九降風).”

François Causse, another curator of the festival and second-generation owner of La Filmothèque, curated a selection aimed at French cinephiles, featuring three works by renowned director Tsai Ming-liang: “Vive L’Amour (愛情萬歲),” “Where (何處),” and Tsai’s first screenplay, “Teenage Fugitive (小逃犯).”
