The Cultural Division of the Taipei Representative Office (TRO) in Italy, in collaboration with Locus Publishing (大塊文化), is participating in the Napoli Comicon for the first time, taking place from May 1 to 4.

Under the theme “Taiwan Comics,” the Taiwan Pavilion showcases over 30 works by 10 Taiwanese comic artists, including titles translated into Italian and other languages. Taiwanese artists Chien Chia-cheng (簡嘉誠) and Yuzu (柚子) were also invited to engage with local readers during the event.

The Napoli Comicon is the largest and most influential art convention in southern Italy. Vincent Y. C. Tsai (蔡允中), Taiwan’s Representative to Italy; Claudio Curcio, president of Napoli Comicon; and Matteo Bonno, general manager of Toshokan Publishing House, attended the opening ceremony of the Taiwan Pavilion.

At the opening, Claudio Curcio remarked on Taiwan’s dynamic comic scene, expressing hope for continued participation that would offer Italian readers more diverse content beyond Japanese manga.

The Cultural Division of the TRO in Italy emphasized that comics have become a key medium for Italian youth to engage with international culture in the post-pandemic era. They reaffirmed their commitment to promoting Taiwanese comics in Italy by fostering deeper collaboration between Taiwanese creators and Italian publishers.
