Taiwanese performing groups to shine at world-renowned arts events in Europe

With the support from the Ministry of Culture, several Taiwanese performing arts groups will be performing physically at various art festivals in Europe from July to September this year, such as the Festival d'Avignon (Avignon Festival) in France, Edinburgh Festival Fringe in the UK, and Germany’s Internationale Tanzmesse NRW, the largest professional meeting for contemporary dance.

Representative works from Taiwan that will be performed at the Avignon Festival from July 7 to 30 include "See You (再見)" by Hung Dance (翃舞製作), "The Back of Beyond (無盡胎藏)" by Tai Gu Dance Theatre, and "Duo (彼此彼此)" by 0471 Acro Physical Theatre (0471特技肢體劇場).

As part of the 75th Edinburgh Festival Fringe, which will take place from Aug. 5 through 29 this year, Taiwan Season will feature "Light of Life (生命之光)" by Diabolo Dance Theatre (舞鈴劇場), "The Whisper of the Waves (潮來之音)" by Shinehouse Theatre (曉劇場), "Tomato" by Chou Kuan-jou (周寬柔) and Anarchy Dance Theatre (安娜琪舞蹈劇場) as well as “See You” by Hung Dance.

Taking place every two years, the Internationale Tanzmesse NRW will be held from Aug. 31 to Sep. 3. With the theme of "Taiwan Online (島嶼上線)," a multimedia booth for Taiwanese contemporary dance will be set up on the spot. Meanwhile, Tjimur Dance Theatre (蒂摩爾古薪舞集) and TAI Body Theatre (TAI身體劇場) have been invited to perform their works "Go Paiwan (去排灣)," "Ita" and "AriAri."

The Avignon Festival, Edinburgh Festival Fringe and Internationale Tanzmesse NRW are world-famous arts events. Over the years, MOC has provided strong support to Taiwan’s outstanding performing arts groups.
