XIII Florence Biennale features art installation by Taiwan artist

The XIII Florence Biennale Art Design will be launched at the Fortezza da Basso from Oct. 26 until 31, attracting a total of 369 artists from 55 countries, of which seven from Taiwan are competing for the biennale awards.

Under the support of the Cultural Division of Taipei Representative Office in Italy, the artist Liao Jau-Yng (廖釗瑩) presented her personal creative style and visual aesthetics through the carbon steel art installation "Red Gate, a Red Imprint (紅門 :一枚紅色印記)."

Liao Jau-Yng's work was specifically created for the biennale, containing profound philosophical insights into humanity and nature, in addition to exploring the dualism found implicitly in the modern world, the inner pursuit of light, sound and relationship with humans and nature.

The Cultural Division of Taipei Representative Office in Italy stated that by supporting the artist Liao Jau-Yng's participation in the exhibition, the Culture Division has established an international exchange network with major Italian art fairs and enhanced the visibility of Taiwanese artists in the international market. In the future, the Cultural Division will continue to support Taiwanese artists by carrying out a series of artistic and cultural activities in Italy, and foster in-depth dialogue between the two countries through cultural exchanges.

Born in Keelung, artist Laio Jau-Yng moved to Madrid, Spain in 1982 and obtained a Master’s degree in sculpture from the Complutense University of Madrid's Department of Fine Arts. She is now a member of man y renowned European art associations. Her works have been exhibited in more than 100 art exhibitions across Europe and were selected for many important local sculpture competitions in Spain, such as Villa de Parla, Puertollano, Mariano Benlliure, and Jacinto Higueras as well as the 75th International Art Exhibition of Valdepeñas.
