Jazzycolors Festival in France to present Taiwanese jazz concert

The Taiwan Cultural Center in Paris (CCTP) will participate in the International Jazz Festival "Jazzycolors" for the sixth time, presenting Taiwan's jazz concert at the Hungarian Cultural Centre adjacent to the Luxembourg Gardens on Nov. 19.

CCTP invites the Julian Wittich Standards Quartet (紀安四重奏) to perform romantic jazz based on Taiwan's folk songs and ballads. It hopes to help the European people to forget their fear and sorrow caused by the pandemic, and bring positive energy into life so that they can have the courage to move forward into the future.

The Julian Wittich Standards Quartet is a young band, led by Taiwanese jazz bassist and composer Julian Wittich (紀安). Both of the members are Dutch musicians including saxophonist Gideon Tazelaar, pianist Oscar Ployart, and drummer Carlos Ayuso. The purpose of establishment of the band originated from Julian Wittich's life experience in Taiwan. Taiwan and Europe share the core values of democracy, freedom and human rights, and he aims to perform international and moving music with musicians who speak the same language. The band plays both nostalgic and new-fashioned creative works with a distinctive style that is light and soft, which is suitable for jazz lovers of all ages.

As many European countries lower the restrictions caused by the pandemic, Europeans are free to participate in arts and cultural activities. The Forum of Foreign Cultural Institutes in Paris (FICEP) will launch the 2021 Jazzycolors from Nov. 6 to Dec. 1, featuring a well-known Serbian jazz pianist Bojan Z, who will perform in the opening ceremony. During this period, there will be a total of about 20 performances at the FICEP.
