The Cultural Division of the Taipei Representative Office (TRO) in Germany is collaborating with the Taiwan Association in Berlin to present Taiwanese artist Fu Ya-wen (傅雅雯) at the 21st WRO Media Art Biennale 2025 in Poland, which will take place from May 14 to June 15.
Fu will showcase her latest work, “NON-BODY (非身體),” which explores the contradictions and controversies of contemporary social phenomena. This piece examines how these social issues influence individuals through the tensions and conflicts that emerge between the performer’s body, the surrounding space, and the installation’s mechanic.
“NON-BODY” is a new work that combines digital-mechanical installation, dance, and sound. It was created in collaboration with choreographer and dancer Chou Shu-yi and sound artist Daniel Romero Calderón, specifically for this exhibition. Following its showcase in Poland, the work will also be shown at St Elisabeth’s Church in Berlin.
Established in 1989, the WRO Media Art Biennale is one of Europe’s most prominent exhibitions focused on how technology influences the evolution of art and society. This year’s edition, titled “Qualia,” features 21 newly commissioned artworks that transcend conventional stylistic boundaries.
The Cultural Division of the TRO in Germany remarked that Fu’s invitation reflects the exhibition’s recognition of her artistic accomplishments and strengthens international cultural exchange between Taiwan and Poland.
