Taiwan's audiovisual show to be presented at Spain digital arts festival

Taiwanese experimental artist and producer Meuko! Meuko! and Taiwanese new media art collective NONEYE, a project that was co-founded by the director of NAXS Corp, will present their new audiovisual show titled "Invisible General (無形將軍)" at the 2022 L.E.V. Matadero festival in Spain on Sep. 23.

With Meuko's sound as its core, the project investigates mythology, tech-animalism and gaming culture by utilizing tech-embodied expressions such as motion-capture, face-capture and real-time 3D engines. It will be performed at the Nave 16 venue in a display of urban decay enveloped by flourishing greenery and the contrast of tradition and modern technology. In the show, viewers will be able to immerse themselves in Taiwan's spiritual landscapes and cityscapes.

The "Invisible General" is the second chapter of the "Ghost Island (鬼島)" trilogy. Release in 2018 by Meuko! Meuko!, the EP "Ghost Island" blends mythology and instruments with electronic beats and cacophonous samples on a release inspired by life in—and the urge to escape from—her home city of Taipei.

Meuko! Meuko! is a solo project of Taipei-based artist Pon, the experimental music producer and live performer. She started performing solo in 2015, and since 2017, has been working with the new media art group, Naxs corp, to present live audiovisual performances and installation creations. Each of her performances contains improvisation and elements of new works, combining disciplines of improvisation with conceptual ideas of noise, clubbing, strange sounds, and field recordings that conjure at times ritualistic performances with sources tracing back to Taiwan's own spiritual landscape.

2022 L.E.V. Matadero is a visual electronics and extended reality festival, which will take place from Sep. 22 to 25 this year. In Matadero Madrid, the festival will host a selection of experimental acts in the fields of electronic music, audiovisual creation and contemporary digital art.
