Taiwanese musicians to perform at Jazzycolors Festival in Paris

Taiwan Cultural Center in Paris will be joining the 2022 Jazzycolors Festival on Nov. 16 at l'Entrepôt, a cultural site in Paris, presenting jazz music by Taiwanese musicians.

The international jazz music festival, Jazzycolors, is returning as an in-person event this year as the COVID-19 pandemic subsides, with more than 20 shows at the cultural venues in Paris from Nov. 3 through Dec. 3. In keeping with tradition, the opening show will be performed by Serbian jazz pianist Bojan Z.

At the invitation of the Taiwan Cultural Center, the ZB•YU•RA Trio, which consists of New York-based Taiwanese vibraphonist Yu-han Su (蘇郁涵), Spanish drummer Ramon Prats, and Polish accordionist Zbigniew Chojnacki, will perform at the show this year. Featuring a blend of jazz, electronic and avant-garde music, ZB•YU•RA Trio immerses listeners in a splendid world of music.

Representing Taiwan, ZB•YU•RA Trio will be performing original pieces and traditional Taiwanese folk songs. The band will explore the relationship between sound and human perception in the modern jazz language, hoping to introduce the romantic and jazzy aspects of Taiwan to international jazz lovers.

The ZB•YU•RA Trio was formed and made its debut performance during the artist-in-residence program at La Marfà – Music Creation Centre in Girona, Spain back in 2019 just before the pandemic hit. Coming from different backgrounds and cultures, the three experienced musicians create music that breaks out of their comfort zones.

After a two-year hiatus due to the pandemic, the band will be going on tour in Europe again, including a performance at Mercat de Música Viva de Vic, one of the biggest music festivals in Spain. For tickets and more information, please visit the website of l'Entrepôt.
