Taiwanese teams join Chroniques Biennale in France

Taiwanese artists will join in the 2022 edition of the Chroniques Biennale, which began on Nov. 10 last year and will run until Jan. 22, with C-Lab serving as curator once again and participating under the VR segment from Jan. 14 through 22.

In line with the theme of the event "La Nuit," C-Lab will install a 16.2 full-sphere surround sound technology of Ambisonics in the exhibition space to present three stereoscopic VR works produced by C-Lab in collaboration with sound artists and dance troupes, including "Chroma: A Derek Jarman Project" by Baboo (廖俊逞); "Throbbing Sonic" by Wang Fujui (王福瑞); "Black Hole Museum + Body Browser" by Su Wen-chi (蘇文琪). Two of Taiwan's outstanding digital media art creations will also be on display, namely, Li Yi-fan (李亦凡)'s "How Do You Turn This On," winner of the 20th Taishin Arts Award, as well as Chen Yi (陳乂)'s "Rating |||||| ||."

Chroniques Biennale was launched in 2018 by two associations, Seconde Nature and Zinc, with the support of France's Ministry of Culture and the financial support of the regional civic organizations in Provence, Alpes, and the French Riviera. The festival which takes place in three cities including Marseille, Aix-en-Provence, and Avignon, features a wide range of activities including plastic arts, multimedia theater, sound art, live art performances and forums for professionals. In addition to the participating artists and curators, professionals from Taiwan are also invited to attend the forum virtually to speak and share their experiences.
