Artworks of Taiwanese artists on display in Madrid

This year, the Cultural Division of the Taipei Economic and Cultural Office in Spain collaborates with YIRI ARTS (伊日藝術計劃) and Chini Gallery (采泥藝術) to organize the 2023 Taiwan Art Week in Madrid. Works by four young Taiwanese artists with distinct styles, namely, Chang Teng-yuan (張騰遠), Hsieh Jung-wei (謝榕蔚), Wu Wei-ting (吳瑋庭), and Chen Szu-ying (陳思穎) will be featured at Art Madrid and Hybrid Art Fair.

Artworks by artists Chang, Hsieh, and Wu will be exhibited at the 18th edition of Art Madrid from February 22 to 26; while Chen's solo exhibition will run from February 24 to 26 at Hybrid Art Fair. Through the collaboration with two galleries to showcase the works of four artists, the Cultural Division in Spain hopes to promote the diversity and creative energy of Taiwan.

Chang is participating in Art Madrid for the second time and he will share the concept of his new art series "Earth Beta" in person. Hsieh compares himself to a farmer on canvas, with blank paper as deserts. He hopes his works can be seen as a warm reply to the Madrid spring breeze. Inspired by scent, Wu hopes to bridge the gap between the East and the West with the smell of both sides. As Spain is one of the main origins of citrus notes material, he chose to combine stones of the ocean and citrus scent.

For the first time, Chen will be participating in Hybrid Art with her works that fuse Eastern and Western elements as well as myth and reality. Chen merges medieval aesthetics, anatomy, art, and music to express her thoughts. According to Chen, she looks forward to interacting with the Spanish audience through her artworks.
