New York-based artist residency program now accepting online applications

The Taipei Cultural Center (TCC) in New York is collaborating with Triangle Arts Association, a renowned visual arts residency in New York, to select one Taiwanese artist or curator to participate in a 3-month residency in New York from Mar. 1 to May 31, 2024, in the vibrant arts and culture hub of Dumbo, Brooklyn. Applications for the selection process are now open and will close on Oct. 31, 2023.

Founded in 1982, Triangle Arts Association is celebrating its 41st year and stands as one of the esteemed art residency organizations in New York. The association’s residency programs are conducted on a quarterly basis, with four artists concurrently residing in the emerging art enclave of Dumbo, Brooklyn, near cultural institutions such as the Brooklyn Arts Council, galleries, and artist studios, fostering a vital and dynamic artistic community.

The selected participant will be provided with a workspace of approximately 16.5 square meters, specifically catered to artists who require larger space, and benefit from professional guidance provided by the association. Furthermore, they have the opportunity to participate in events hosted by Dumbo Open Studios, amplifying the visibility of their artistic works. Additionally, through the arrangements facilitated by the Triangle Arts Association, they will occasionally meet with representatives from cultural institutions and curators in the New York area.

The TCC in New York looks forward to providing this residency opportunity to Taiwanese artists or curators interested in the American and international art scene. This residency program is designed to broaden their international perspectives, establish networks, and elevate their skills, thereby fostering the potential for international visual arts collaborations. Since 2019, the TCC in New York has partnered with the Triangle Arts Association for residency programs, and as part of this partnership, Taiwanese artists such as Wu Ping-sheng (吳秉聖), Chen Liang-hsuan (陳亮璇), Wu Chien-hsing (吳建興), and Wang Po-yen (王博彥) had the opportunity to participate in the residency.

Only online applications will be accepted, and Triangle Arts Association will select one eligible Taiwanese artist or curator. Please click on this link to apply.
