Collaborating with the Taipei Cultural Center in New York once again, Expo Chicago has selected two Taiwanese curators Zoe Yeh Chia-jung (葉佳蓉) and Lee Chia-lin (李佳霖) for the Curatorial Exchange program next year.

Yeh, the director of Hong-gah Museum (鳳甲美術館), and Lee, an independent curator, will participate in the Expo Chicago 2024’s exchange program from Apr. 10 to 13, 2024. Kate Sierzputowski, representing the expo’s committee, expressed their enthusiasm in welcoming Taiwanese curators to offer their Asian and international perspectives.

Expo Chicago is one of the most important contemporary art expos in Chicago. Acquired by the Frieze Art Fair in July, Expo Chicago hopes that the London-based Frieze team will breathe a new life into the art event next year.

Launched in 2018, the Expo Chicago’s Curatorial Exchange program invites curators from around the globe to exchange and discuss the latest global contemporary art ideas and challenges. Besides seminars and closed-door meetings, curators partaking in the program have the opportunity to visit local artists, museums, and art expos in Chicago.

The Taipei Cultural Center in New York said that the achievements of Taiwanese curators this year have shown Taiwan’s strong presence, evidenced by the display of Erica Huang (黃又文) and Dutch curator Manique Hendricks’s photograph on the first page of the 2024 exchange program catalog. They highlighted that the professionalism of Taiwanese curators is being recognized internationally, which increases the visibility of Taiwan’s visual art on the global stage.
