Enduring compositions and folk songs characterized by their Taiwanese roots will be presented in a six-concert series in Dallas and Houston from Aug. 1 through 9.
Titled "Formosa Impression,” the concerts will feature pianist Sherry Chen (陳玲玉), violinist Lin Wen-chuan (林文川), and cellist Ya Limu (婭力木). The three classically trained musicians jointly perform as the Elite Artists Trio (菁英藝術家三重奏), the only Taiwan-based group to have been selected as a Steinway Artist Ensemble.
The repertoire will include classic compositions such as "The Formosa Trio (福爾摩沙三重奏)” Op. 58 from the late Tyzen Hsiao (蕭泰然), and popular folk songs like "Mrs. Green Oyster (青蚵嫂),” "Longing for Spring Breeze (望春風),” and "The Torment of a Flower (雨夜花).”
