Taiwanese conductor to present a show with Avanti Orchestra in Maryland

The Taiwan Academy collaborates with the Friday Morning Music Club (FMMC), a classical music institution based in Washington D.C, to organize a performance featuring emerging Taiwanese conductor Lin Chi-yuan (林奇緣) and FMMC’s Avanti Orchestra. This event is set to take place at the Montgomery College Cultural Art Center in Maryland on May 4.

Founded in 1886 as a community of music lovers and musicians, the FMMC has promoted classical music in the Washington area for nearly 140 years. The Club produces an estimated 90 free concerts annually and organizes auditions to select outstanding international talents to collaborate with its Avanti Orchestra.

Lin Chi-yuan received her MM in Conducting at the National Taiwan Normal University, where she also received her BFA in Piano Performance. She has served as Music Director and Assistant Conductor of several Orchestras in Taiwan and the United States. She is currently working on her DMA in Conducting at Peabody Institute of Johns Hopkins University.
