The Puppet & Its Double Theater (無獨有偶工作室劇團) is invited by the Taiwan Academy to tour in the U.S. from May 11 to June 2, for eight shows in three cities – Seattle, Atlanta, and Houston, showcasing their outstanding puppet production “The Selfish Giant (自私的巨人)”.
Founded in 1999, The Puppet & Its Double Theater’s mission is to create challenging and innovative puppet art that touches the heart and mind. Adhering to the creative principle of “everything can be a puppet”, the company creates a new style for contemporary Taiwanese puppet art.
“The Selfish Giant” is another exquisite puppet production from the company. With its poetic narrative, the play demonstrates the brilliance of the human spirit in the stories of Oscar Wilde. Following its debut in 2022, which received a highly positive response, a subsequent production in Taiwanese Hokkien language toured in 2023. This May, the English rendition of the play will take the stage.
The first leg of this tour will take place at Green River College in Seattle on May 11 and 14; the second leg will be held at The Center for Puppetry Arts in Atlanta from May 24 to 26; and the final leg will conclude at the Asia Society Texas Center on June 1 and 2.
