The Taiwan Academy in Los Angeles collaborates with the Seattle International Film Festival (SIFF) to launch “The Films of Edward Yang (楊德昌回顧展)” screening event from Apr. 1 to 18. This event is taking place at the SIFF Cinema Egyptian, showcasing five works of director Edward Yang.
Established in 1976 in the United States, SIFF is a cultural arts organization whose mission is to create experiences that bring people together to discover extraordinary films from around the world. It is through the art of cinema that SIFF fosters a community that is more informed, aware, and alive.
“The Films of Edward Yang” celebrates five of Edward Yang’s masterpieces, including 4K restorations of four. With a keen eye for detail and a profound understanding of human nature, Yang’s films transcend cultural boundaries, resonating with audiences globally. From his exploration of youth and rebellion in “A Brighter Summer Day (牯嶺街少年殺人事件)” to the introspective family drama of “Yi Yi (一一)”, Yang’s oeuvre captures the essence of life in Taiwan with unparalleled depth and nuance.
