The Taipei Economic and Cultural Office (TECO) in Thailand presented the showcase of Taiwan’s picture books at the 2024 Bangkok International Book Fair held from Mar. 28 to Apr. 8. Taiwanese authors Li Ju-ching (李如青), Yan Kai-hsin (嚴凱信), and Tsui Li-chun (崔麗君) were invited to the event to introduce their works.
During the event’s opening ceremony, Deputy Representative Shirley Hsueh (薛秀媚) of the TECO noted that picture books are the most accessible reading materials without restrictions on age or language. She expressed her hope that more Thai readers would appreciate picture books from Taiwan.
Duangporn Sudhisomboon, Vice Director of PUBAT, the book fair organizer, said that through this collaborative event, they aim to foster Taiwan-Thailand cultural exchange and cooperation.
The TECO also hosted side events such as “Taiwanese-Thai Authors Talk” and “Taiwan’s Picture Book Workshop” at the book fair.
