The 22nd “Art Beyond Boundaries” Japan International Ink Painting Exhibition opened at the National Art Center, Tokyo, on Jan. 23, featuring works by Taiwanese artists for the first time. Lee I-yang (李逸洋), Taiwan’s Representative to Japan, commented that this exhibition serves as a platform to showcase Taiwan’s artistic development and creative spirit to the world.
During the opening ceremony, Representative Lee emphasized Taiwan’s commitment to fostering international cultural and artistic exchange. He expressed hope that through exhibitions like this, Taiwanese artists will continue engaging with the global community, promoting a deeper appreciation of Taiwanese art.
Organized by the International Calligraphy and Art Association of Japan, the 22nd “Art Beyond Boundaries” Exhibition featured over 600 works from 31 countries, including 53 pieces from Taiwan.
The exhibition presented works from both Asian and European countries, including Germany, Spain, Hungary, and Italy. In addition to designated national sections, it also showcased children’s artwork.
The National Art Center in Tokyo—one of Japan’s most significant art institutions—hosted the exhibition in its expansive 14,000-square-meter hall, the largest in the country. The exhibition concluded on Feb. 2.
