The National Taiwan Craft Research and Development Institute took a team of eight Taiwanese top craft brands to Singapore for the four-day 2018 International Furniture Fair Singapore (IFFS), the premier show in Asia for top-end buyers from Europe and East Asia interested in the latest furniture design.

This year, Taiwan’s booth was built around the concept of a "comfort zone," making use of top craft talent to create an atmosphere of comfort and ease, and drawing over 20,000 curious visitors and buyers from around the world.

On March 8, the first day of the show, Motor Design Group was awarded the 2018 Nook Asia Best Décor Award — Handcrafted and Handicraft Category for its exquisite travel tea and coffee sets made with Taiwanese ceramics and wood.

The practical, stylish products boast a modern, international style coupled with excellent functionality and quickly found favor in the multicultural Singaporean market, highlighting the competitive strength of Taiwanese crafts.

Daqi Concept, another participating brand, also made waves with their combination LED ambient light and Bluetooth speaker JinGoo.

Modeled as a ceramic bird in a birdcage, the "bird" emits a warm ambient light from its "belly," while the cage contains a mono two-way Bluetooth speaker, stylishly combining high-end craftsmanship and modern technology and earning the pride of place in the booth for the second year running.

Natural dyes brand Taiping Blue presented a 12-tone, blue-and-white gradient wall clock. Elegant and distinctive, Taiping Blue once again won the favor of a number of buyers of furnishings for both homes and hotels.

In addition, the IFFS also invited the National Taiwan Craft Research and Development Institute to bring 13 of the most outstanding wooden furnishings from their technical teams to create their own exhibit, titled "Lumber."

The high level of experimentation and creativity on show captured much attention, attracting professional buyers and high-level purchasers of tailor-made items, connecting top Taiwanese handicrafts with the international marketplace and opening up opportunities for cooperation.

Through all of this, Taiwan has once again astonished the Southeast Asian market with its top quality crafts and exquisite branding.
