Over 400 international and Taiwanese visitors were captivated by Taiwan-made audiovisual works promoted at a reception held by Taiwan's top audiovisual agency on the opening day of the 2019 Hong Kong International Film & TV Market (FILMART).
The trade show, which runs from March 18 to 21, drew the participation of a total of 65 Taiwan audiovisual and post-production companies. To help them introduce Taiwan's diversified audiovisual content, rich creativity, and cultural values to more overseas markets, the Bureau of Audiovisual and Music Industry Development (BAMID) organized the promotional showcase on March 18, according to Yang Hsiu-yu (楊秀玉), head of the Bureau's motion pictures industry division.
Among the promoted works were:
"Bad Boy Symphony (樂獄)," a soul-searching movie based on true events and the first Taiwan film of its kind to take place in a juvenile detention center. Director Charles Sun (孫啟明, center) was present along with actors JC Lin (林哲熹, left) and Fandy Fan (范少勳, right).

"Dad's Suit (老大人)," a family tear-jerker that will begin screening in Taiwan theaters on March 22. Director Hung Po-hao (洪伯豪, right) was present along with producer David Tang (唐在揚, left) and actress Phoebe Huang (黃嘉千, center).

"Pigsy (八戒)," an animation inspired by the classical Chinese novel "Journey to the West (西遊記)." Directed by Chiu Li-wei (邱立偉, left) of Studio2 and produced by Emmy-winning producer Joe Aguilar (right), the adventure with the tagline "Tomorrow Never Knows" has won the top prize at the 2017 Asian TV Festival’s Animation Pitch.

"Brave To Love (愛情白皮書)," a TV drama show adapted from the Japanese manga series "Asunaro Hakusho" by artist Fumi Saimon. Actor Chang Ting-hu (張庭瑚, left) and actress Wei Man (魏蔓, right) were present at the March 18 reception.

"The Timeless Virtues (忠孝節義)," a Taiwanese TV opera filmed with innovative techniques and featuring the iconic actress of Taiwanese opera, Yang Li-hua (楊麗花). Yang's protégé Chen Ya-lan (陳亞蘭, left) and fellow actress Jiang Hong-min (江虹旻, right), who both starred in the film, also made an appearance at the FILMART showcase.
