The Osaka Asian Film Festival (OAFF) held its award presentation ceremony on Mar. 10, during which Taiwanese director Lien Chien-hung (練建宏) was honored with both the Most Promising Talent Award and the ABC TV Award for his drama “Salli (莎莉).”
This year, two Taiwanese films, “Salli” and “Trouble Girl (小曉),” participated in the OAFF competition. The Most Promising Talent Award recognizes an Asian film director with exceptional potential, while the ABC TV Award, presented by the Asahi Broadcasting Corporation, celebrates the most entertaining film of the year.
Representing Culture Minister Shih Che, Wang Shu-fang (王淑芳), Director of the Taiwan Cultural Center in Tokyo, congratulated Lien upon hearing the news. She hopes that “Salli” will be featured in film festivals across various cities in Japan, reaching a broader Japanese audience for Taiwanese cinema.
