The Cultural Division of the Taipei Representative Office in the U.K. and the London independent cinema Garden Cinema are co-hosted the “Taiwanese Cinema: Now and Then” season from Sept. 5 through Oct. 3. Golden Horse Awards winning actor Lee Kang-sheng (李康生) was invited to participate in the post-screening talk on Sept. 9, sharing his experience in the making of “Days (日子).”
The post-screening talk was moderated by Professor Victor Fan (范可樂) of the Department of Film Studies of King’s College London. During the talk, Lee Kang-sheng noted that his performance is characterized by “slowness,” which greatly influenced director Tsai Ming-liang after their frequent collaborations.
On Sept. 10, Lee facilitated a masterclass at King’s College London, along with attending the screening of “The River (河流)” on Sept. 11.
Opened in March 2022, the Garden Cinema screens repertory seasons and new releases from around the world. For more information on this event, visit the Garden Cinema’s website.
