Seminar at Art Hub Copenhagen highlights Taiwan independent art space

The Cultural Division of the Taipei Representative Office in the U.K. partnered with the Art Hub Copenhagen to host “Gathering – a seminar on the conditions of independent art spaces and initiatives” on Apr. 4 and 5.

The event featured Taiwanese art professionals including Yang Chia-hsuan (楊佳璇), curator at Absolute Space for the Arts; Lo Shih-tung (羅仕東), director of the Open-Contemporary Art Center; and Jeph Lo (羅悅全), co-founder of TheCube Project Space.

Organized by independent curator Vanini Belarmino, the seminar explored topics such as “Foundations for the Future: Artists & Curators Shaping Creative Ecosystems,” “Political Discourses & Representation in the Arts,” “Strengthening Artist-Run Spaces and Initiatives,” “Creating Alternative Institutions,” and “Multiple Practices and Representation in the Arts.” The speaker lineup included over 20 artists and curators from Asian countries as well as Sweden and Denmark.

The Cultural Division emphasized that Art Hub Copenhagen is a prominent platform for international residencies and art exchange, and that their support helps boost the global visibility of Taiwanese art while fostering opportunities for international collaboration.
