Leipzig Manga-Comic-Con features Taiwanese comics and artists

Supported by the Cultural Division of the Taipei Representative Office in Germany, the Leipzig Manga-Comic-Con, held from Mar. 27 to 30, featured two Taiwanese comic artists, Honey Chen (陳漢玲) and BliSS (布里斯), to present the charm of Taiwanese comics.

The Manga-Comic-Con 2025 attracted over 290,000 visitors from 45 countries. This year marks Taiwan’s third participation in the event, which is the largest cosplay gathering in Germany. Under the theme “T-Comics Realm (臺漫異世界),” a selection of Taiwanese comics and books—still rare in Germany—was showcased, drawing the attention of local publishers interested in acquiring rights. Honey Chen and BliSS engaged with fans at daily book signing events.

Yeh Wei-ni (葉瑋妮), director of the Cultural Division of the Taipei Representative Office in Germany, emphasized that long-term planning has been key to increasing the visibility of Taiwanese comics in the German market. Noting the return of visitors from previous years and their growing interest in new Taiwanese comics translated into German, she stated that their efforts in promoting Taiwan’s manga art have proven effective.
