Taiwanese comic artists engage with U.S. audiences at MoCCA Arts Fest

Taiwanese comic artists Pam Pam Liu (劉盼妤) and Eli Lin (依萊) attended the 2024 New York Comics and Cartoon Museum Arts Festival (MoCCA Arts Fest) on Mar. 16 and 17. Receiving warm responses, they engaged with the U.S. audience to share their unique perspectives on art.

Pam Pam Liu is renowned for her manga series and illustrations, drawing inspiration from everyday life. Her black humor resonates deeply with readers. Warmly received by European readers, her comics, “Toi et moi le jour de la grande catastrophe (我們的災難)” and “A Trip to Asylum (瘋人院之旅),” have been published in French.

Eli Lin’s artworks are a testament to her mastery of skillful lines and vivid colors, incorporating elements of fashion, costume, and history into her creations. She has been nominated four times at the prestigious Angoulême International Comics Festival in France.

Pam Pam Liu noted that this festival has a robust independent flavor, showcasing a variety of works such as pieces by students and amateur artists. She also said that the Americans were eager to learn about the artists’ inspirations.
