An exhibition on the nervousness in contemporary city life through the eyes of artists from both sides of the Taiwan Strait was hosted by New York-based La MaMa Galleria this fall.

Curated by Taiwan's Joanne Wei-ching Chen (陳韋晴) and Hong Kong's Ying Kwok (郭瑛), "No Cause For Alarm” was the largest exhibition on Asian art ever hosted by La MaMa Galleria. Of the 11 featured artists, four were from Hong Kong, one from China, and six from Taiwan.

From toying with familiar daily objects and everyday experiences to proposing "feasible” ways of social intervention, the 11 artists explored what can and cannot be accepted by society. Humor was also employed to poke fun of how habitual thinking in daily life influences public behavior.

List of Featured Artists from Taiwan:

  • Chou Yu-cheng (周育正)
  • Huang Yen-ying (黃彥穎)
  • Musquiqui Chihying (致穎)
  • Su Yu-hsien (蘇育賢)
  • Tsui Kuang-yu (崔廣宇)
  • Wang Ding-yeh (王鼎曄)
