The 2016 Excellence in Live Design Award for the club/lounge category was awarded to the Taipei-based night club OMNI on June 13. The venue designers - a collective known as theLOOP - flew to New York to attend the cocktail reception and accept their accolade.
Boasting a state-of-the-art theater stage and high-definition video canvas, OMNI incorporates avant-garde performance art with club culture. It was conceived in May 2015 by theLOOP, whose nightclub operations included LUXY and PRIMO. The entertainment provider has also helped organize David Guetta and Tiesto concerts in Taiwan.
OMNI is best known for its curved LED screen - 100 ft. in width and 652 sq. ft. in total surface area - offering a panoramic live experience akin to that of an amphitheater. In addition to the Live Design Award, its interior and lighting design also captured an iF Design Award in the hotel/bar category earlier this year.
The recognition has helped OMNI join an illustrious list of night clubs around the world, including 2015 winner LiFE Nightclub in Las Vegas, 2014's Vegas-based supper club Rose. Rabbit. Lie, and 2013 frontrunner Marquee New York.
