With the support of the Ministry of Culture, the Taiwan Academy of Taipei Economic and Cultural Office (TECO) in Los Angeles partnered with the National Taichung Theater for the first time to feature the Taiwan Exhibit themed "Taiwan On the Move (躍動臺灣)" in the 2022 Western Arts Alliance (WAA), which took place in Calgary, Canada from Aug. 29 to Sep. 1.
The booth presented eight Taiwanese performing arts groups/productions that were slated for touring through America, including A Root (同根生樂團), B.DANCE (丞舞製作團隊), HORSE (驫舞劇場), HUANG YI STUDIO + (黃翊工作室+), Tjimur Dance Theatre (蒂摩爾古薪舞集), Puppet & Its Double Theater (無獨有偶), Storytellers Musical Lab (樂劇創製) and "Whispers of Trees (樹仔聲)" by Chou Hsuan-hung (周宣宏) and Wei Zhao-yi(魏肇儀).
Aside from the booth, the Taiwan Academy in Los Angeles was also collaborating with the Taipei Cultural Center in New York to create the website "Performing Arts from Taiwan." The website is an e-catalog for presenters to know more about Taiwan's performing arts groups/artists and to make quick evaluations. Most of those outstanding groups are supported by Taiwan's Ministry of Culture's "Taiwan Brand (臺灣品牌團隊)" or National Culture and Arts Foundation's "Taiwan Top (Taiwan Top演藝團隊)" grant project. More detailed information can be found on the website, such as the production info kit, tour schedule, contact person, video and photos, and the content is updated annually.
Established in 1967, WAA is a membership association of touring and performing arts professionals throughout the Western United States, and the annual conference of WAA takes place every August.
