  • Wu Ke-xi majored in the Turkish language during university, and went on to pick up Burmese, Thai, and Cantonese for different acting roles. This linguistic repertoire — coupled with her fluency in Mandarin, Taiwanese, and English — has proven to be a formidable skill set for interpreting a wide range of film roles.

Wu Ke-xi developed an interest in acting upon watching a performance by Little Tigers (小虎隊), a Taiwanese boy band formed in 1988, on TV when she was an elementary student. However, she put aside her aspirations and followed the traditional path of academically excelling students to study in high school and then university.

In 2006, after getting her first role in the stage play "Summer Breeze (聽見夏天的風)," she began developing her career in the film industry. This led to numerous auditions and she served as an extra for over two years. Despite the challenges, her willpower has helped her overcome struggles and kept her going.

Wu started collaborating with acclaimed director Midi Z (趙德胤) in 2010. She was awarded the Best Actress title at the Canada International Film and Television Festival for his feature "Ice Poison (冰毒)" in 2014 and in the following year, earned her second Best Actress accolade for "The Palace On The Sea (海上皇宮)" at the Tokyo-based Short Shorts Film Festival & Asia.

In 2016, Wu co-starred with Kai Ko (柯震東) in Midi Z's drama "The Road to Mandalay (再見瓦城)." She was nominated for Best Leading Actress at the 53th Golden Horse Film Festival for her realistic portrayal of Lianqing, a Burmese girl who smuggled herself across the borders to pursue a better life in Thailand.

The next year, she took a challenging role in "The Bold, The Corrupt And The Beautiful (血觀音)" directed by Yang Ya-che (楊雅喆). Throughout her career, Wu has always pushed the boundaries of her craft and talent to try out a wide variety of films that feature unique characters.

"Nina Wu (灼人秘密)," Wu's debut screenplay about sexual harassment in the entertainment business, garnered an Excellent Screenplay Award from the Ministry of Culture's Bureau of Audiovisual and Music Industry Development. The film, which is also directed by Midi Z, was selected for the 2019 Cannes Film Festival's Un Certain Regard program.

"Nina Wu," which explores the themes of female autonomy, self-awareness, and the unspoken rules of the film industry, received great attention from foreign press. Through this screenplay, Wu hopes to tell her personal experiences and creates characters that she wants to portray.
