TRADITIONAL ART TROUPES TO BE STATIONED ACROSS TAIWAN

Starting this June, Taiwanese traditional music and theater groups will begin holding performances and workshops in rural areas of Taiwan to promote traditional performing arts.

To inspect the implementation of an ongoing development project in New Taipei City that assists local pottery and ceramics operators, Minister of Culture Lung Ying-tai visited three studios in Yingge District.

A STATEMENT OF CLARIFICATION ON OVERSEAS CULTURAL CENTERS

In response to Legislator Chiu Chih-wei’s queries concerning the Ministry of Culture’s expansion project on overseas cultural centers, the following statement of clarification was issued.

The Cultural & Creative Awards, an incentive program for talented groups and individuals from the cultural and creative sector, will be open to applications until 6 PM on July 12, 2013.


'ROCK SONIC DAY IN KAOHSIUNG'

American hard rock band Aerosmith will perform at a rock festival in southern Taiwan's Kaohsiung on Aug. 24, the first time the legendary band will perform in Taiwan.


'THE 2013 TAIWANESE DIALOGUE SERIES II'

Architect Kris Yao, songwriter Jonathan Lee, entrepreneur Chan Hung-chih and master chef Cheng Yen-chi have been invited by the Kwang Hwa Information and Cultural Center in Hong Kong to be part of a cultural dialogue series from June 29 to Oct. 12.


'JOAN MIRO: WOMEN, BIRDS, STARS'

“Joan Miró: Women, Birds, Stars” – the first-ever exhibition from the famed Spanish surrealist to be presented in Taiwan – will be held at the National Museum of History from June 8 through Sept. 25.


‘INVISIBLE MOVEMENT IN PROGRESS’

The National Taiwan Museum of Fine Arts (NTMFA) in Taichung City will be showcasing a philosophical and digital installation titled the 'Invisible Movement of Progress' from May 25 to July 14.


'TAIWAN HAS MERMAIDS!'

In celebration of World Oceans Day, a Taiwanese museum is holding an exhibition that showcases Taiwan's only two displays of dugongs, a rare torpedo-shaped marine mammal believed to have been the basis of mermaid legends.
