TAIWANESE PIANISTS TO HOLD NEW YORK CONCERT

U.S.-based Taiwanese pianist Alice Lu and Taiwanese-American pianist Steven Lin will play famous pieces by Western and Eastern composers in an upcoming concert held by the Taipei Cultural Center in New York on Feb. 23.


SHAKESPEARE FORUM HELD IN TAINAN

To help introduce literary monolith William Shakespeare to more Taiwanese audiences, the National Taiwan Museum of Literature and the Shakespeare Birthplace Trust held a forum discussing his life and works on Feb. 18.


CALL FOR MUSEUM RESEARCH PAPERS

International heritage educators and museum experts interested in attending a prestigious symposium in Taiwan can submit their research papers to the National Taiwan Museum before the end of March.


‘THE AESTHETICS OF OKINAWA’

As part of growing Taiwan-Japan cultural ties, the National Taitung Living Arts Center will host a fine arts exhibition featuring four renowned artists from the Japanese prefecture of Okinawa from Feb. 16 through 25.


‘SPOTLIGHT ON TAITUNG’

To promote the landscape and people of Taitung, an exhibition of 100 award-winning works from a national photography contest will be held at the National Taitung Living Arts Center from Feb. 15 through March 5.


‘IN THE FOOTSTEPS OF GIANTS’

This March, the National Taiwan Symphony Orchestra will present the Romantic masterpieces of Carl Maria von Weber, Robert Schumann, and Johannes Brahms in a concert series titled “In the Footsteps of Giants.”


‘ROMANCE OF THE THREE KINGDOMS’ IN YILAN

The National Center for Traditional Arts has opened a major exhibition in Yilan titled “Crafts and Drama: Romance of the Three Kingdoms,” which brings together many decorative crafts used in traditional Chinese drama.


‘THE 2014 CMDT FESTIVAL’ IN NANTOU

The 2014 Craft, Music, Dance & Theater Art Festival, an event combining performing arts with crafts, will run for four months till May at the National Taiwan Craft Research and Development Institute in Nantou County.


‘ABSTRACT STONE FIGURES’

Featuring semi-precious stones found in Taiwan, “Abstract Stone Figures” will be open to the public at the Chung-shan Gallery of the National Dr. Sun Yat-sen Memorial Hall from Feb. 14 through March 2.


‘JOURNEY TO THE KINGDOM OF HOLES’

To promote public awareness of eco-friendly farming and food consumption, the National Taiwan Museum is hosting an eco-friendly farming exhibition for children aged 5 through 13 at its South Gate Park.
