The Edinburgh International Book Festival has invited three heavyweight Taiwan writers to present the promise and power of contemporary Taiwanese literature.
Late Japanese scholar Mitsuru Nishikawa's collection of Taiwan-inspired cultural relics is now on view at two museums in Japan's Fukushima Prefecture.
"Tradition in the Near Future" seeks to showcase the contemporary arts, films, and performances inspired by Taiwan's traditional temple fairs.

Taichung park relaunched as heritage preservation hub
The Ministry of Culture has successfully pushed for the Taichung Cultural and Creative Industries Park to become a "cultural heritage park." This evolution will add further value to the park through an abundance of preservation and revitalization resources.
Penghu forum highlights underwater heritage preservation
The Penghu 10th Regional Forum of the 2018 National Cultural Heritage Congress was attended by scholars, experts, local artists, historians, and representatives of heritage preservation groups.

As Taiwan considers the future of the National Chiang Kai-shek Memorial Hall, a "transformation workshop" has been traveling across Taiwan to collect public ideas, with the eighth session held on Aug. 4 in Hualien. 
Taipei museum to celebrate Indonesia
Taiwan is now home to over 600,000 migrant workers, in which those from Indonesia take the lead as the largest group with 230,000 members. To celebrate Indonesia's National Day in Taipei, the National Taiwan Museum will host a festival on Aug. 19.

Active both at home and internationally, veteran Taiwanese conductor Felix Chen contributed immensely to the development of classical music in Taiwan. He led Taiwan's two most important symphony orchestras, was a man of many musical faculties, and discovered some of Taiwan's greatest musical talents.

The Grass Mountain Royal Guest House was established in 1923 to accommodate Prince Hirohito, who visited Taiwan before he succeeded the throne in 1926. Having witnessed the nation's transition from Japanese colony to democratic Taiwan, the guest house was designated as a historic site in 1998.
