Minister greets Taiwan-France award laureates
Minister of Culture Cheng Li-chiun flew to France to attend the ceremony for the 22nd Taiwan-France Cultural Awards and honor the four laureates conducting research on Taiwan, as their work have introduced Taiwan's cultural heritage to more people around the world.
Taiwan inks new accord with Paris museum
The agreement between the Taiwan Cultural Center in Paris and the Quai Branly Museum will play to the Parisian museum's strengths as a collector of indigenous artifacts by focusing on Taiwan's Austronesian roots and contemporary aboriginal identity.
Minister visits French National Assembly
Minister of Culture Cheng Li-chiun met with French legislators to discuss Taiwan's recent advancements in promoting civic discourse and equal cultural rights. Her visit marks the first time that a Taiwanese cultural minister was invited to the French National Assembly.
Cultural Features
The twin-piped flutes of the Paiwan come in two main categories: nose flutes and mouth flutes. Both are made from wind-dried bamboo, although the nose flutes tend to be slightly thicker than their mouth-played counterparts. The biggest difference between the two is in their mouthpieces.
