ACCELERATE@CERN: OPEN CALL

To promote cross-field cooperation in science and the arts, the Republic of China (Taiwan) Ministry of Culture and the European Council for Nuclear Research (CERN) have come together to create Accelerate@CERN TAIWAN.


'THE PIONEERS OF TAIWANESE ARTISTS (1971-1980)'

An art exhibition highlighting Taiwanese artists born between 1971 and 1980, a liberated era following the lift of martial law, will take place at the Taichung-based National Taiwan Museum of Fine Arts from Dec. 20 to March 8.


'AUSPICIOUS RADIANCE OF THE 7 JEWELS'

An exhibition on southern Chinese Buddhist artwork and artifacts dating back from 1,500 years ago will open at the National Museum of Prehistory in Taitung City from Dec. 20 through March 20, 2015.


'MASPALAW - SAISIYAT ARTIFACTS'

A total of 47 artifacts, including textiles, rattan-woven containers, paper relics, and weapons dated between the 19th and early 20th century, will be exhibited in Miaoli to show the elegance of indigenous Saisiyat artifacts.


'THE YEAR OF THE GOAT'

In celebration of the upcoming Chinese New Year, the “30th New Year Prints Exhibition of the R.O.C.” will display 79 prints from Jan. 1 through March 22 at the Taichung-based National Taiwan Museum of Fine Arts.


'THE LIANG ISLANDERS'

The National Museum of History and the Lienchiang County Government on the outlying Matsu Islands will co-host a special exhibition on the Liang Islanders, the oldest human fossils to be unearthed in Taiwan.


'THE HLA'ALUA AND KANAKANAVU PEOPLE'

To commemorate the formal recognition of two indigenous groups, Hla'alua and Kanakanavu, the National Museum of Prehistory will host a special exhibition between Dec. 16, 2014 and May 17, 2015.


'MIND IMAGERY'

A collection of watercolor paintings documenting transient pond moments by Taiwanese artist Kuo Hsin-i will be on display at the National Chiang Kai-shek Memorial Hall from Dec. 31 to Jan. 11, 2015.


'IMAGES OF TIME'

“Images of Time” will offer 52 paintings by Taiwanese artist Sun Ying-lun from Dec. 20 through March 1, encompassing a medley of subject matters that include landscapes, flowers and birds, and people.


'CHIAYI CITY INTERNATIONAL BAND FESTIVAL'

The 23rd edition of the Chiayi City International Band Festival, one of the longest-running cultural events in Taiwan, will run for two weeks from Dec. 19 to New Year’s Day.
