Late Taiwanese artist Lin Chih-chu devoted his life to raising the status of eastern gouache, which is also known as dis-temper or glue-color painting. Moreover, he had been at the forefront of efforts to promote this culturally significant style of painting.

Shiy De-jinn was a prominent figure among the post-war artists who crossed the strait and adopted Taiwan as their homeland. He sought to inject new vitality and thought into classic Chinese paintings while drawing upon local sights and scenes.
