Taiwan's performance troupe Puppet Beings Theatre is performing its show "The Paper Play" at The Clemente and Flushing Town Hall in New York. As part of the show, members of the Puppet Beings Theatre create lifelike puppets out of paper and take audiences on a captivating journey.
Taiwanese artist Leigh Wen is the first Taiwanese to hold an exhibition at the American University Museum at the Katzen Arts Center. The exhibition "At One with the Elements," which will run until Aug. 13 is made possible through support from the Ministry of Culture.
The 76th Edinburgh Fringe Festival features works from Taiwan including "World in A Word" by Double & Cross Theater Group, "#Since1994" by Eye Catching Circus, "The Way Back" by The Double Theater, and "Duo" by 0471 Acro Physical Theater.

On Aug. 6, Premier Chen Chien-jen revealed that he is committed to supporting the expansion of the National Museum of Taiwan History. Minister of Culture Shih Che thanked the Executive Yuan for supporting the NT$3 billion expansion project and emphasized the importance of undergoing the second phase of expansion.

The nominees for the 34th Golden Melody Awards for Traditional Arts and Music, along with the winners of this year's Special Awards, were announced on Aug. 8. The Special Awards will be awarded posthumously to Taiwanese opera performer Chen Mei-yun and Paiwan educator Camake Valaule.

Muia Sunavan, the preserver of the traditional weaving of Bunun men's garments, passed away at the age of 90. Muia Sunavan has been deeply involved in the craft of traditional weaving for more than half a century. In recognition of her contributions, the MOC will present a posthumous certificate of appreciation to her.
Cultural Features
Kuo Ching-chih was born in 1939 in Dajia, Taichung. His early works, characterized by a realistic style, won numerous awards in domestic art competitions, making a name for himself in the field of sculpture. In 1994, Kuo was invited to Japan to participate in the Asian Modern Sculpture Outdoor Exhibition with his work "Gate of Saha" and received high praise from the local newspaper.

The Taiwan Pineapple Museum is the only remaining canned pineapple industrial building from the Japanese occupation of Taiwan. Taiwan is a kingdom of fruits, and pineapple is one of its representatives. For a period of time after World War II, Taiwan was the world champion of canned pineapple production, and the foundation was laid during the Japanese occupation.
