TAIWAN'S LINEUP FOR THE 2014 CANNES

Three Taiwanese short films and a classic martial arts movie digitally restored from 1967 will be screened at this year’s Cannes Film Festival in France, which will run from May 14 through 25.


3 BANDS TO PERFORM IN JAPANESE SUMMER FESTIVAL

Three Taiwanese bands — Mayday, ChthoniC, and Magic Power — have been invited to perform at this year's Summer Sonic, a three-day music festival that takes place in Osaka and Tokyo in August.


TAIWANESE TATTOO ARTIST TO BE FEATURED IN PARIS

A larger-than-life canvas painting by Taiwanese tattoo artist Hsu Kao-bin will be exhibited at the Quai Branly Museum, a renowned Paris museum devoted to indigenous art, from May 6, 2014 to Oct. 18, 2015.


UPCYCLED ART BY TAIWANESE ARTIST IN PHILLY

Featuring life-size sculptures of the world’s greatest classic composers, a public art installation by Taiwanese artist Chen Long-bin will be on display at the Kimmel Center in Philadelphia until May 15.


EXCHANGE INITIATIVE WITH SOUTHEAST ASIA

The Ministry of Culture has subsidized nearly 80 Southeast Asian artists and cultural professionals for their projects and performances in Taiwan since the implementation of the Emerald Initiative last year.


TAIWAN DOCUMENTARY FESTIVAL: CALL FOR ENTRIES

The annual Taiwan International Documentary Festival (TIDF), one of the top professional platforms in Asia for documentaries, will accept entries from today until May 30, 2014.


'THE 2014 NATIONAL FORUMS ON PUBLISHING'

In response to public concern over a service trade pact Taiwan signed with mainland China, the Ministry of Culture will hold three public forums to discuss issues regarding national publishing policies with local professionals.


‘A+ CREATIVE FESTIVAL’

The 2014 A+ Creative Festival, the biggest design event in central Taiwan, will include design exhibitions, forums, a fashion show, two weekend creative fairs, and performances by street buskers.


'GOOD CRAFTS, DELICATE CRAFTSMANSHIP'

Dozens of Taiwan-made metalwork, glass art, stone carvings, lacquer ware, dyed textiles, and ceramics will be on display to welcome travelers arriving at the Taoyuan International Airport’s Terminal 2 from May 6 to Aug. 5.


'SAME BUT DIFFERENT'

“Same but Different,” a month-long jewelry exhibition featuring German artist Franz Bette, will take place between May 10 and June 15 at the South Gate Park of the National Taiwan Museum in Taipei.
