CULTURE MINISTRY BIDS OLD OFFICE GOODBYE

The Ministry and several other government agencies will be jointly moving into a newly constructed Cabinet building in Xinzhuang District in New Taipei; the Ministry will be open to the public at its new location starting Jan. 22.


SPAIN TO SCREEN ‘NEW WAVE’ FILMS

In cooperation with the Pamplona-based Navarra Film Library, the Taipei cultural office in Spain will co-organize the “Taiwan en Pantalla” film screening series on works by three iconic directors of the “New Wave” film period.


PERFORMING ARTS CENTER ACT PASSED

The act successfully marks the National Theater and Concert Hall in Taipei, the Taichung National Opera House, and the Wei-Wu-Ying Center for the Arts in Kaohsiung as Taiwan's three principal venues for the performing arts.


2014 TAIPEI BOOK FAIR WINNERS

Each winner of the 2014 Taipei International Book Exhibition Prize (TIBE Prize) will receive a trophy and a cash prize of NT$100,000 (US$3,322) in recognition of outstanding literary achievements.


‘THUNDERING SUCCESS’ PRINT EXHIBITION

In celebration of the upcoming Year of the Horse, the “29th New Year Prints Exhibition” will display 82 prints of majestic stallions from Jan. 18 through March 25 at the National Taiwan Museum of Fine Arts in Taichung.


‘DR. SUN YAT-SEN AND TAIWAN’

From Jan. 13 through 30, the “Dr. Sun Yat-sen and Taiwan” exhibition at the National Dr. Sun Yat-sen Memorial Hall will focus on interpreting the Republic of China founder’s major achievements, as well as his relations with Taiwan.


‘ISLAMIC LIFE AND CULTURE’

To help introduce Islamic life and culture to Taiwanese exhibition goers, the National Taiwan Museum will showcase everyday and religious objects from the Muslim world in a special exhibition that will run through June 22.


‘TAIWANESE CONTEMPORARY JEWELRY’

In recognition of several artists’ outstanding performance in crafts design, metal craft works by seven international craft award-winning Taiwanese artists will be showcased at a jewelry exhibition held in Taipei.


'LAN SHUI & MIRA WANG'

The National Taiwan Symphony Orchestra and its artistic advisor Lan Shui will stage two performances with U.S.-based Chinese violinist Mira Wang in Taichung and Kaohsiung on Jan. 17 and 18, respectively.


‘PALETTE KNIFE PAINTER’

Taiwanese artist Chen Rui-hu, a Tainan native who is best known for crafting beautiful oil paintings using only a palette knife, will hold a solo exhibition at the National Dr. Sun Yat-sen Memorial Hall from Jan. 8 through 23.
