TAIWAN, AUSTRALIA PARTNER FOR HERITAGE

The Bureau of Cultural Heritage signed a memorandum of understanding on March 30 with AusHeritage, a network of Australian cultural heritage management organizations established by the Australian government in 1996.


SOUTHERN XIQU CENTER SLATED FOR 2019 OPENING

A forum on the southern branch of the Xiqu Center of Taiwan took place in Kaohsiung City on March 28 to discuss the preservation plans for the facility. The project is scheduled to be completed in 2018 and open by 2019.


CHOU LAN-PING DOCUMENTARY TO PREMIERE IN HK

A Taiwan-made documentary on the late musician Chou Lan-ping, whose music made a lasting impact on the global Chinese-speaking community, will have its world premiere on April 3 as part of the 2015 Hong Kong Int'l Film Festival.


TAIWAN-CENTERED CULTURAL EVENTS IN TOKYO

A Taiwanese documentary on senior cheerleaders premiered in Tokyo as part of the Spotlight Taiwan project. Upcoming events include Taiwanese cuisine classes and forums on the diverse heritage of Taiwan.


CHEN CHENG-PO EXHIBITION TO OPEN AT UW-MADISON

The art exhibition of “Hues Across 23.5˚ N: Chen Cheng-po and His Journey Across Borders” will take place from April 6 to 22 in Wisconsin. This is the first time that Chen’s art will be presented in the United States.


TAIWAN'S RAW HISTORY, BEAUTY ON DISPLAY IN NY

“The View of Formosa’s Landscape from Photographers,” a joint exhibition showing in New York, presents a unique perspective on the island’s landscapes through the lens of 15 Taiwanese and foreign photographers.


HOU HSIAO-HSIEN FESTIVAL LANDS IN LA

An international retrospective film festival on filmmaker Hou Hsiao-hsien will travel to Los Angeles and screen classic films by the leading figure of New Taiwanese Cinema at the Hammer Museum from April 3 to June 20.


'A PLAINS ABORIGINES EXHIBITION'

A special exhibition on Taiwan’s Plain Aborigines will be held at the National Taiwan Museum through Aug. 30, featuring a 17-meter-long animation of the “Kangxi Taiwan Map,” the museum’s most-coveted artifact.


'GOLDEN BLOSSOMS ON GEMMED TREASURES'

The National Museum of History’s “Golden Blossoms on Gemmed Treasures: A Gem-inlaid Gilt Filigree Collection” will showcase a series of exquisite gold- and silver-gilt adornments generously loaned to the museum.


'ON SITE IMPROMPTUS'

Twelve choreographed pieces from Taiwan and other countries will be featured in dance videos at a joint exhibition hosted by the National Taiwan Museum of Fine Arts in Taichung City.
