THE 34TH NATIONAL CULTURAL AWARD

The Ministry of Culture conferred the National Cultural Award to three cultural masters in recognition of their outstanding contributions — poet Yu Guangzhong, novelist Chi Pang-yuan, and the late architect Han Pao-teh.


TAIWANESE LACQUER ART IN SWEDEN

An exhibition on exquisite crafts co-created by Swedish designers and Taiwanese lacquerware artisans is now open at the Form Design Center in Malmoe, the third largest city in Sweden.

The Taiwan Academy in Los Angeles will kick off the Year of the Goat with free screenings of nine Taiwanese blockbusters and award-winning films starting March 5 at its Westwood headquarters.

2015 DIGITAL PERFORMING ARTS PROGRAM

The Ministry of Culture will offer a total of NT$7.5 million (US$236,900) to five arts groups that have extensively applied wearable technology, the internet of things, kinetic technology, and cloud computing to their creations.


2015 THREE-TIER FUNDING PROJECT

The Ministry of Culture will offer a total of NT$156 million (US$4.9 million) to 88 recipients this year under its flagship subsidy program that aims to create a financially stable environment for the local performing arts sector.


GUOGUANG OPERA TO PERFORM IN TAIPEI

Taiwan's opera lovers will soon be able to enjoy Guoguang Opera Company’s signature pieces 'One Hundred Years on Stage' and “Flowing Sleeves and Rouge” in Taipei, after the two plays swept Shanghai’s art scene last year.

A delegation comprising of renowned art groups and performers from China will be staging a series of performances in the spirit of the Lunar New Year holidays at the national crafts institute in Nantou on March 1.


'PLACES, MEMORIES & THE FLOW OF TIME'

The Hakka Culture Development Center will play host to 47 works by 38 contemporary artists from the Art Bank collection and documentary photographs by Hakka photographers from the Hakka Affairs Council’s collection.
