CREATIVE EXPO TO OFFER TAIWAN'S ETHOS

The 2015 Creative Expo Taiwan (CET) is set to bring an unprecedented fusion of culture and creation to Taipei by gathering more than 500 creative brands to showcase their wares at three exhibition venues from April 29 to May 4.


TAIWANESE PIANIST TO HOLD RECITAL AT UCSD

Chen Pi-hsien, an accomplished Taiwanese pianist who was recognized as a child prodigy, will hold a solo concert at the University of California, San Diego (UCSD) on April 26 as part of the Spotlight Taiwan project.


LOS ANGELES TO SCREEN 6 TAIWAN FILMS

Six films from Taiwan will be shown in downtown Los Angeles from April 23 to 30 as part of the 2015 Los Angeles Asian Pacific Film Festival, the largest of its kind in Southern California.


TAIWANESE ARTIST TO BE FEATURED IN TOKYO

Taiwanese mixed media artist Wu Chi-tsung will be featured in the upcoming Roppongi Art Night 2015, an annual street festival on the art in everyday living in Tokyo, on the eve of April 25.


FILMS ON TAIWANESE CULTURAL MAESTROS IN NY

The Taiwan Academy in New York will kick off its Spring 2015 Taiwan Film Series on three influential cultural figures — movie star Ching Chiang, novelist Pai Hsien-yung, and opera actress Liao Chiung-chih — starting April 25.


HOU HSIAO-HSIEN SELECTED FOR 2015 CANNES

Veteran Taiwanese filmmaker Hou Hsiao-hsien has been selected to compete in the 68th annual Cannes Film Festival in France, in which his latest production “The Assassin” will vie for the festival’s highest prize, the Palme d’Or.


'CALLIGRAPHY AND PAINTINGS BY YU CHENG-YAO'

A retrospective on the late Yu Cheng-yao, a former military commander and self-taught artist who relocated with the Chinese Nationalist government to Taiwan in 1949, will be held at the National Museum of History through July 17.


'VIVID ANCESTOR PAINTINGS'

A special exhibition on Taiwan’s Plain Aborigines will be held at the National Taiwan Museum through Aug. 30, featuring a 17-meter-long animation of the “Kangxi Taiwan Map,” the museum’s most-coveted artifact.


'TYPE AS IMAGE IN MOTION'

“TYPEMOTION,” an international traveling exhibition featuring 159 outstanding examples of text and typography being used in motion, will be shown at the Taichung-based National Taiwan Museum of Fine Arts through June 7, 2015.


'ART REVOLUTION TAIPEI'

Art Revolution Taipei (A.R.T.) — a yearly international art fair that comprises trade, competition, and charity — will take place in Taiwan’s capital city from May 8 to 11 at the Taipei World Trade Center.
