2014 TAIPEI TV FESTIVAL

The Taipei TV Festival (TTF), one of the world’s largest platforms for copyright trading in Asia-made television programs, will take place at Exhibition Hall 3 of the Taipei World Trade Center between Sept. 17 and 19.


TAIWAN TO SHINE IN SHANGHAI FAIR

The Ministry of Culture has recruited 15 cultural and creative brands from Taiwan for the upcoming Interior Lifestyle China, a major household product trade fair that will open in Shanghai on Sept. 18.


FUKUOKA FESTIVAL OPENS WITH TAIWAN FILM

The 2014 Fukuoka International Film Festival, which has specially organized a Taiwan section this year to meet the Japanese demand for Taiwan-made films, opened with Taiwanese production “Apolitical Romance” on Sept. 12.


GOLDEN BELL AWARDS SLATED FOR OCTOBER

The 49th Golden Bell Awards awards ceremony will be held at the Sun Yat-sen Memorial Hall on Oct. 18 for the broadcasting category, while a separate event will be held on Oct. 25 to announce the winners of the TV category.


ARTISAN HONORED FOR LIFETIME ACHIEVEMENT

Veteran artisan Shih Chih-hui, who has been devoted to the trade of wooden Buddha sculptures since the age of 16, has been selected as the recipient of the 2014 National Crafts Achievement Award.


THE 'YOUTH GO' SUBSIDY PROGRAM: OPEN CALL

The Ministry of Culture is offering up to NT$1 million for the first-ever “Youth Go! Village Cultural Development Project Competition.” All those within the age range of 20 to 35 are welcome to submit a project proposal before Sept. 30.


'ISLAND. QUAKE. REBIRTH'

The National Museum of Taiwan History will examine the legacy of a magnitude-7.7 earthquake that struck on Sept. 21, 1999 in a special exhibition from Sept. 19 through May 24, 2015.


'TIBETAN BUDDHISM THANGKA ART EXHIBITION'

A special exhibition featuring thangkas, a type of religious scroll paintings unique to Tibetan Buddhism, will be shown at the National Taiwan Museum in Taipei from Sept. 17 through Nov. 23.


'2014 ART TAIPEI'

Art Taipei, one of the most experienced and professional platforms for trading Chinese and Asian artworks, will return with an even more ambitious program of events and forums on Oct. 31.


'HUALIEN INT'L STONE SCULPTURE FESTIVAL'

A month-long celebration of the beauty of stone sculptures will be held in October at Hualien County, Taiwan’s mineral-rich coastal region that boasts both manmade and natural wonders.
