 WHITE TERROR ERA DOSSIERS MADE PUBLIC

A total of 10,067 dossiers from the period of martial law on Taiwan known as White Terror has been preserved till today. To commemorate Human Rights Day, the first lot of 232 verdicts was made public on Dec. 10.


SPANISH CENTER HOLDS TAIWAN FESTIVAL

The Circulo de Bellas Artes in Madrid held an arts festival featuring the Chang Dance Theater, singer-song writer Suming, and Taiwanese director Hou Hsiao-hsien, three representatives of Taiwan’s different arts.


2014 NATIONAL CULTURAL AWARDS

Author and literary translator Chi Pang-yuan, poet-writer Yu Kwang-chung, and the late architect-scholar Han Pao-teh will be honored by the 34th National Cultural Awards on Feb. 9, 2015.


ACCELERATE@CERN: OPEN CALL

To promote innovative cross-field cooperation in science and the arts, the Republic of China (Taiwan) Ministry of Culture and the European Council for Nuclear Research (CERN) have come together to create Accelerate@CERN TAIWAN.


'TAIWAN INTERNATIONAL POETRY FESTIVAL'

The first Taiwan International Poetry Festival will be promoting poetry from around the world with a series of events, including a film festival, a concert, and a book fair that are set to roll out in December.


'MASPALAW - SAISIYAT ARTIFACTS'

A total of 47 artifacts, including textiles, rattan-woven containers, paper relics, and weapons dated between the 19th and early 20th century, will be exhibited in Miaoli to show the elegance of indigenous Saisiyat artifacts.


'FRESH TAIWAN'

To showcase the most innovative lifestyle products made in Taiwan, as well as the Ministry of Culture’s role in assisting the cultural and creative sector’s international expansion, a special exhibition will be held at Huashan from Dec. 4 to 14.


'NATIONAL MEMORIES: ONE YEAR ANNIVERSARY'

The exhibition slated for Nov. 28 to Dec. 25 at the Qidong Poetry Salon will display the results of the National Memories Database Project, which was initiated a year ago to collect the stories of the Taiwanese people.


'2014 TAINAN CREATIVE LIFE FESTIVAL'

The 2014 Tainan Creative Life Festival will offer concerts, art workshops, exhibitions, and panel discussions. The main concept of this year’s festival touts the love for ideas, originality, and diversity of art.


'THE LIANG ISLANDERS'

The National Museum of History and the Lienchiang County Government on the outlying Matsu Islands will co-host a special exhibition on the Liang Islanders, the oldest human fossils to be unearthed in Taiwan.
