 TAIWAN ACADEMY OUTPOST OPENS IN LA

The Taiwan Academy in Los Angeles will open its doors to the general public by offering a film screening series starting Oct. 3, and hosting a black-and-white photography exhibition that will run through Jan. 2, 2015.


ART BANK COLLECTION IN TOKYO

A total of 22 unique artworks by 19 Taiwanese artists has been shipped to Japan for the Art Bank’s first-ever overseas display. The exhibition titled 'Silent Time' will run through Sept. 15, 2015 at the Taipei representative office in Tokyo.


U-THEATRE ON NORTH AMERICA TOUR

Taiwan’s U-Theatre, a respected percussion group known for incorporating elements of Zen philosophy and Chinese theology with majestic drumming performances, will embark on a tour of North America starting Oct. 2.


TAIWANESE NEW MEDIA IN PARIS

Taiwanese new media artist Kuo I-chen will join seven other foreign artists in an upcoming Parisian exhibit titled “La photographie performe — The Body and the Archive” at the Centre Photographique d'Ile-de-France.


COMIC ARTIST AO YOU-XIANG HONORED

The Lifetime Achievement Award of the 5th Golden Comic Awards will go to senior comic artist Ao You-xiang this year. He is best known for his 1982 comedy “Black Dragon Courtyard” series.


18TH TAIWAN-FRANCE CULTURAL AWARD

The two winners of the 18th Taiwan-France Cultural Award are the European Research Center on Contemporary Taiwan (ERCCT) at the University of Tuebingen and Cannes-based music trade show MIDEM.


TAIWAN CULTURE MONTH IN HK

The 9th Taiwan Cultural Festival — “The Stories We Live By” — featuring cultural assets and collective memories is scheduled to open in Hong Kong on Oct. 31. The 31-day festival will take place on an unprecedented scale.


'SEMINAR ON DOCUMENTARY HERITAGE'

The first “Memory of the World” event in Taiwan aims to introduce the concepts of documentary heritage preservation, and highlight the preservation of and access to documentary heritage related to “Memory of Taiwan.”


'RAINBOW AND DRAGONFLY'

“Rainbow and Dragonfly,” an exhibition displaying some 400 handicrafts from a collection of fine weaves and contemporary aboriginal crafts, will run at the National Taiwan Museum from Sept. 30 through March 1, 2015.


'2014 TICCIE CONCEPT EXHIBITION'

An exhibition on Taiwan’s grassroots vitality will serve as a forerunner to the 2015 Taiwan International Cultural and Creative Industry Expo (TICCIE) at the Songshan Cultural and Creative Park between Oct. 3 and 12.
