EUROPE CELEBRATES TSAI MING-LIANG’S FILM LEGACY

The films of Taiwan-based Malaysian director Tsai Ming-liang have proven to be hugely popular in Europe this year, with his works to be released at film festivals, cinemas, and TV channels in both France and Belgium.


A SNEAK PEEK AT TAIWAN'S PAVILION FOR VENICE

Taiwan will make its eighth appearance at the Venice Architecture Biennale with “The Small City Within,” an unique construction echoing the biennale’s 2014 theme of “Fundamentals.”


REVITALIZING LOCAL CULTURAL CENTERS

Through a national subsidy program, which is now entering its fourth year, the Ministry of Culture will distribute a total of NT$53 million (US$1.75 million) in funds to local cultural centers across Taiwan this year.


‘MY FIRST SHOW’

The two-week exhibition at the Huashan 1914 Creative Park is part of the Ministry's sponsorship program that offers creative individuals in Taiwan the opportunity to hold their first show.


‘TOMORROW COMES TODAY’

To commemorate the 3rd anniversary of the Tohoku earthquake in Japan, Taiwanese curator Lee Yen-yi has collaborated with several Japanese artists to hold a special exhibition in Taichung from March 8 through April 25.


‘MADAME CHIANG KAI-SHEK & HUANG CHUN-PI’

In memory of the 116th birthday of the late Madame Chiang Kai-shek (1948 - 1975), an art exhibition featuring Chinese ink paintings by Madame Chiang and her mentor will take place in Taipei from March 3 through 30.


‘META’ IN TAITUNG

To celebrate the coming of springtime, an art association comprising of teachers and retired educators will hold an art exhibition at the Living Arts Center in Taitung from March 8 through 26.


‘BEYOND WORDS’ FEATURING RAPHAEL CHANG

Up-and-coming Taiwanese artist Raphael Chang, who is best known for his monochrome approach to fine arts, will be holding a solo exhibition at the National Dr. Sun Yat-sen Memorial Hall from Feb. 28 through March 16.


'DELFS AND RACHLIN'

The National Taiwan Symphony Orchestra will present a romantic concert featuring guest conductor Andreas Delfs and violinist Julian Rachlin on March 14, the date of White Valentine's Day in Asia.


‘FRENCH ARCHITECTURE FORUM IN TAIPEI’

From March 24 through 26, a three-day forum in Taipei will include world-class architects, interior designers, showroom designs, museum layout designers, and consultants from France.
