TAIWAN'S PUBLIC ART PROWESS SHINES IN JAPAN

Public art projects dreamed up by Taiwanese artists Wang Wen-chih, Jimmy Liao, and Lin Shuen-long will make their debut at two triennial art festivals in Japan's Niigata Prefecture this summer.


ROCHELLE PAYS HOMAGE TO HOU HSIAO-HSIEN

The world-renowned Festival International du Film de la Rochelle has chosen Taiwanese director Hou Hsiao-hsien as one of the four moviemakers who will be featured in its prestigious homage section.


POPULAR TAIWANESE CINEMA TO HIT NYC

The New York Asian Film Festival, one of North America’s leading festivals of popular Asian cinema, will screen four films from Taiwan as part of a special segment titled “Taiwan Cinema Now!”


TAIWAN FILM SERIES IN LA CELEBRATES COURAGE

Nine films depicting the fearless aspects of Taiwan’s culture will be showcased at the Taiwan Academy in Los Angeles from July 2 through Aug. 27; each screening will be also accompanied by a discussion session.


TAIWAN CULTURE SALON IN LONDON

The first-ever Taiwan Culture Salon in the U.K. screened two films documenting the lives and writings of Taiwanese poets Chou Meng-tieh and Zheng Chou-yu, garnering audience interest in Taiwanese literature and aesthetics.


'HERSTORY — CHINESE AMERICAN WOMEN'

An exhibition introducing the stories of Chinese-American women who made American history will be hosted by the National Museum of History in Taipei from June 19 through Aug. 2.


'TAIWAN INTERNATIONAL MUSIC FESTIVAL'

Held to support both preservation and innovation in traditional music, the 2015 Taiwan International Music Festival, the first comprehensive government-organized music festival in Taiwan, will take place from July 11 to 15.


'TRANSFORMATIONS IN 1895'

To mark the 120th anniversary of the Japanese Conquest of Taiwan, the NMTH has organized an exhibition to introduce how people with different cultural backgrounds and socioeconomic positions viewed the era of 1895.


'27TH ANNIVERSARY CELEBRATIONS OF THE NTMOFA'

To mark its 27th anniversary, the National Taiwan Museum of Fine Arts (NTMoFA) in Taichung, Taiwan’s only national-level fine arts museum, will celebrate its birthday with a series of exhibitions and activities on June 27.


'GOLDEN MELODY AWARDS & FESTIVALS'

The Global Melody Awards & Festival (GMA) - an international festival incorporating exhibitions, trade shows, marketing and distribution opportunities, concerts, and awards - will run in Taipei from June 24 to 27.
