'SPOTLIGHT TAIWAN' IN MASSACHUSETTS

As part of the expanding Spotlight Taiwan global initiative, the Ministry of Culture has signed a collaborative pact with the non-profit educational consortium - Five Colleges, Incorporated - in Massachusetts on July 1.


'ICE POISON' DIRECTOR THANKFUL FOR TAIWAN

Taiwan-based film director Midi Z, who captured two awards in Europe for his latest feature film “Ice Poison” in June, has expressed his gratitude to Taiwan for serving as his “cradle of creativity.”


SUNKEN BRITISH SHIP FOUND

An old British vessel that sunk over a hundred years ago has been found in northern Taiwanese waters. The finding of SS Sobraon has renewed local interest in both underwater relics and issues concerning their preservation.


2014 GOLDEN MELODY WINNERS

Malaysian singer Penny Tai and Taiwanese record producer Jonathan Lee walked away with the biggest hauls from the 2014 Golden Melody Awards, which celebrated its 25th anniversary this year.


'TAIWAN 2014: INT'L FORUM ON NATURAL DYES'

The National Taiwan Crafts and Research Institute will hold an international forum on the future development of natural dyes this October. The Taichung-based Chaoyang University of Technology will serve as the event venue.


'THE FLOW OF THE WORLD'

“The Flow of the World,” featuring Taiwanese artists Mary Chi-ping Chin and Wu Kuan-ying, is a digital installation that helps viewers conceptualize the global impact of climate change upon the intricate marine ecosystem.


'TUNG TSO'S EXHIBITION OF INKSTONES'

Renowned Taiwanese artisan Tung Tso, the third son of a family of craftsmen, will hold a solo exhibition in Nantou County to showcase a new generation of delicate creations that his family became famous for — inkstones.


'IN SEARCH OF MULIYAV'

The National Chinese Orchestra of Taiwan will celebrate its 30th anniversary by holding a musical production titled “In Search of Muliyav” this September. The theatrical concert is based on an indigenous Paiwan legend.


'SNUGGLE: CONTEMPORARY EXPRESSION OF INTIMACY'

The National Chiang Kai-shek Memorial Hall exhibition will showcase Taiwanese artist Sanssouci Horng’s attempt to frame modern relations through the telling positions of human legs.


'DRACULA: HISTORY AND ART OF VAMPIRES'

Paintings, artifacts, and audiovisual materials on loan from more than a dozen museums will be showcased at the National Museum of History as part of a three-month exhibition on vampirism in Taipei.
