The exhibition “Sing With a Pen: The Heavenly Voices of Taiwan's Indigenous Literature (用筆來唱歌 — 聽台灣原住民族的天籟之音)” marks the first showcase of Taiwan’s indigenous literature in Ireland. Taking place at the Taipei Representative Office in Ireland, this exhibition will run until Apr. 30.
This exhibition is co-organized by Trinity College Dublin, the National Museum of Taiwan Literature (NMTL), and the Taipei Representative Office in Ireland.
During the inauguration ceremony, Irish Senator Gerry Horkan highlighted that the exhibition will foster a greater appreciation of Taiwan’s diverse culture and enhance Taiwan-Ireland cultural exchanges.
Director James Hadley of the Trinity Centre for Literary and Cultural Translation noted that Taiwan's indigenous literature serves as an important gateway for Irish readers to explore Taiwanese literature, besides the existing Mandarin, Hokkien, and Hakka literature that has been introduced by Trinity College. He also announced plans to facilitate deeper collaborations with the NMTL.
Yang Tzu-pao (楊子葆), the Representative to Ireland, underlined the significance of indigenous cultures to understanding Taiwanese culture as a whole. He anticipates that Trinity College will be an active partner in NMTL’s international translation projects.
