TFAM presents ‘Small World Cinema’ at New York’s SculptureCenter

The Taipei Fine Arts Museum (TFAM) collaborates with the SculptureCenter in New York to present the “Small World Cinema,” showcasing moving image works from the “Taipei Biennial 2023 – Small World” to the U.S. audience. Running from Jan. 25 to Mar. 25, the screening event features over 20 artistic works made between 1989 and 2023.

Founded in 1928, the SculptureCenter is an artist-driven non-profit organization devoted to promoting contemporary experimental art. It provides an international forum that connects artists and audiences by presenting exhibitions, commissioning new work, and generating scholarship.

In response to the theme of Taipei Biennial 2023, Director Sohrab Mohebbi of SculptureCenter pointed out that the Biennial suggests both a promise of greater control over one’s own life and a threat of isolation from a larger community. He took an interest in the Biennial and invited the curators to present the exhibition in New York.

The works showcased in the “Small World Cinema” include Taiwanese artists Li Yi-Fan (李亦凡), Su Yu-hsin (蘇郁心), Chen Yin-Ju (陳瀅如), and Wang Ya-hui (王雅慧), along with Taiwanese American artists Jen Liu (劉艾真) and C. Spencer Yeh (葉致甫). For more information on the event, please visit SculptureCenter’s website.
