71 Taiwanese films presented at the European film market

The Taiwan Creative Content Agency (TAICCA) kicked off this year's participation in international film markets with a virtual Taiwan Pavilion at the Berlinale's European Film Market (EFM) from Feb. 10 to 17.

TAICCA presented 71 titles, including feature films, documentaries, animations, and VR works from 34 companies at the pavilion. Titles presented include "In the Morning of La Petite Mort (動物感傷の清晨)" by director Wang Yu-lin (王育麟), "K Series" by directors Tsao Shih-han (曹仕翰), Hung Tzu-hsuang (洪子烜), Chou Tung-yen (周東彥), Yin Chen-hao (殷振豪), Chiang Wei-liang (曾威量), and the short film "The Mother of God (神的母親)" by Liao Che-i (廖哲毅), a documentary of poet Wu Sheng (吳晟) titled "He's Still Young (他還年輕)," and animation adapted from beloved comic series "Shiro - Hero of Heroes (諸葛四郎-英雄的英雄)." Also included are VR projects "Madame Pirate: Becoming A Legend (女海盜)" and "LIPs (唇) (Prototype)," as well as "Pierce (刺心切骨)."

TAICCA CEO Izero Lee (李明哲) said that TAICCA assists the industry to participate in major international film and TV markets with projects in the pitching phases to search for investment. "The number of works presented this year has nearly doubled, and we’re pleased to see more industry practitioners recognize and understand the benefits of attending international content markets," says Lee.

The European Film Market is one of the top three meeting places of the international film and media industries. Its close links with the Berlinale as a public film festival, and its position at the heart of Berlin's vivid creative economy, are defining characteristics of the Berlinale's film market. Yet the EFM is more than just an agile marketplace for trading film and audiovisual content – it has also positioned itself as a platform for innovation and change.
